My First Time

I’m excited about my new website! I’m also very appreciative of Julia Stoops and Jimmy Thomas at Blue Mouse Monkey for the design. Julia made the whole experience easy and I love the results. And thanks to Jason Sass for taking my picture. Well, for taking a whole bunch of pictures and having a long discussion with me about why he didn’t like the one I liked, and why I didn’t like the one he liked. And so on. Also, to the friends who encouraged me and helped me with some of the details (you know who you are), thank you.

I love writing. I like sharing my writing and news about things that happen with my writing and good news about the other writers I know (or would like to). This will be a place to do that. I also like talking about writing and the writing life, reading events, about the books I’ve read, movies or plays I’ve seen, and any other thing that falls in the category of creativity and storytelling. Which leaves things wide open. Because aren’t we all always telling some kind of story–our own story–in the way we dress, the way we make our homes, the things we choose for entertainment, what we talk about or are silent about, in our politics, the work we do, who we fall in love with, the food we eat?

So this will be a place to talk about all that. I’d like it to be a conversation…one of my favorite things. So if something I say sparks something in you…jump in. And I’ll do the same.

Jamie, Yes, those summer boys: city boys for country girls, country boys for city girls. The mystery of different. Thank you for reading.

  2. Hey Jackie,
Your first chapter is a good one… brought back some early parts of my mostly city life.
My first true love was a farmer on the Eastern Shore in Virginia… a redhead with fine dusty muscles in the early sun. 10 years later, I married an onion farmer in Sherwood… seems like a long time ago.
Thanks for sharing this… I look forward to more!

Jackie! Congrats on getting your website up and running! I look forward to future posts. For the record, I have always loved your writing and the characters and locations you bring to life in my mind while I read. You do this with a gentleness and a humor that draws me into the story and keeps me going until the very end.
